Wise vs Remitly: Which is Better for Money Transfers?
Sending £100 from the UK, Wise came out ahead of Remitly on the actual amount received in 4 of the 6 corridors we compared head-to-head today — but Remitly won the other two, and not by a small margin. Neither provider is simply "the cheaper one." Which wins depends on the corridor, and specifically on how each one prices its fee against its exchange rate.

Look closely at Nigeria and Pakistan, and the pattern becomes clear. Wise actually offers the better raw exchange rate on both — ₦1,847.38 versus Remitly's ₦1,840.27, and PRs373.81 versus PRs373.74. But Remitly charges a smaller fee on both (£0.00 and £0.99, against Wise's £1.23 and £1.60), and on a 100-unit transfer, that fee gap outweighs the tiny rate advantage. On the higher-value corridors — Brazil, India, Mexico — the opposite happens: the rate difference is large enough that Wise's slightly higher fee doesn't matter, and it wins comfortably.
The takeaway: don't assume either provider is "the cheap one" across the board. A provider that waives its fee can still lose on rate, and a provider with the better rate can still lose on fee. The only way to know which wins on your corridor is to compare the actual payout, not the fee or the rate in isolation — which is exactly what the table above does.

Remitly is present and competitive on more corridors overall — it's active on 141 to Wise's 117, and ranks top-3 more often. Wise is very slightly more likely to be the single cheapest provider when it does compete. Neither gap is large enough to call one provider definitively better; both are genuinely strong, broad-coverage options, and the right one depends on where you're sending money to and how much you're sending.
